A global organisation of the Brahmin community, dedicated to the nation and society
Vipra Foundation serves the nation and society through its projects in education, sanskar and self-reliance, with 47 zones across India and chapters in five countries.
About us
India's cultural history bears witness that, from the dawn of creation to the present day, Brahmins have adorned this great land and its society with knowledge earned through deep thought and austerity. The Brahmin has lived not for himself but for the nation, its culture and humanity. The guiding mantra of the Brahmin has always been “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” — may all be happy. Whenever society and the nation lost their way, learned Vipras, moved by their duty as Brahmins, showed the right path. Whenever rulers turned away from their duty to their people, they corrected them, as Bhagwan Parshuram did.
Over time, circumstances changed, and in the meeting of cultures our outlook on life changed too. Westernisation came to be seen as modernisation. Of the four aims of life, artha and kama slowly overshadowed dharma and moksha. As pride in our own country and culture faded, regionalism, class, sectarianism, caste and sub-caste divisions and disputes over language took such a hold on people's hearts and minds that the noble values of our ancestors were pushed aside.
In this time of decline, the role of the Brahmin community has become vital. By tradition and by destiny alike, the first responsibility for bringing vigour to the nation, to society and to every individual rests on the shoulders of Brahmins.
